Silla, Baekje and Goguryeo are the three kingdoms of Korea. Gongju City and Buyeon County are the representatives of Baekje Kingdom. There are many ancient relics of Baekje Dynasty in Gongju and Buyeon near Daejeon.
Gongju is the capital of the Baekje Dynasty, with abundant historical remains such as Gongsanseong Fortress, Magoksa Temple and Royal Tomb of King Muryeong, etc. Gongsanseong Fortress consists of a 2260m long stone castle and a 400m long mud castle. This 1,500 years old fortress offers us a good view of Gongju City and Geumgang River. It will need some climbing and walking. Magoksa Temple was founded in 640. It is surrounded by mountains and rivers, so the sightseeing in spring and autumn is very beautiful. Magoksa Temple offers temple stay and customized programs, such as compassion meditation, tea ceremony, ‘This is me’ program, 'Spreading the Love', etc. Royal Tomb of King Muryeong is the representative relic of the Baekje Period.
