Temple Stay is a cultural experience program designed to enhance the public’s understanding of Korean Buddhism. Therefore, it is open to everyone regardless of religious belief.
There are over 20 temples provide temple-stay program for native and foreigner in South Korea, including Jogyesa Temple (Seoul), Beomeosa Temple (Busan), Bulguksa Temple (Gyeongju), Haeinsa Temple (near Daegu).
Jogyesa Temple is the center of Zen Buddhism in Korea, and is famous for being located in the city. During Buddha’s birthday, thousands of colorful lanterns will be decorated outside of temple. You can visit it at night, it is amazing both inside and outside.
Beomeosa Temple is located at the edge of Mt. Geumjeongsan, a famous mountain in Busan. The temple is surrounded by gorgeous maple trees. In autumn, all maple trees change colors and the view from up top is magnificent!

Haeinsa Temple [UNESCO World Heritage] is one of 4 major Buddhist temples in Korea. It is well known Buddhism temple for their beautiful ancient architecture and also its numerous Buddhism scriptures written on more than 80,000 wood plates. The wooden scriptures are world largest.
